The cost of a new EIS is normally over $2000 plus coding

The Mercedes-Benz DAS 3 is a sophisticated system that uses a rolling code which changes each time the key and EIS communicate, all components (EIS, ESL, keys and engine control unit) are married together and won’t work in another vehicle. We have found that often a weak battery or failing electronics can cause a corrupt code in the ignition switch and prevent it from functioning correctly, we offer a repair service that will replace failing components and in most cases the corrupt data can be repaired. Due to the complexity with this system it is often very difficult for workshops to identify the correct part in the drive authorisation system that is causing the vehicle to not start, If you are unsure please send all components ( all keys, EIS and ESL (steering lock) ) and we will advise / repair the faulty component. We offer this service as second hand parts are not a simple case of plug-n-play, in most cases even after replacing a entire set out of a second hand vehicle, other issues are introduced due to vehicle specific coding.

We offer a remanufacturing service for Mercedes-Benz A Class, B Class, C Class (1997-2006), E Class, CLS, CLK, SLK, Vito and Sprinter ELV ESL steering lock.
